Tupou and Sekonaia celebrated their marriage in an intimate setting.
A small gathering of family and friends supported them on their special day.
Dressed in the traditional white wedding dress and white suit, Tupou and Sekonaia looked stunning and celebrated their Tongan heritage.
They acknowledged their cultural values by using Tapa cloth as a back drop and floor mat.
These beautiful mats which are handed down from families are unique to the Pacific Island culture.
Tapa cloth is made from the bark of the mulberry or bread fruit tree. The bark is peeled from the young saplings and goes through many hand labour intensive processes until the designs are applied. These designs usually depict sea creatures, the beautiful island flowers, families coats of arms or important events. These cloths are used as functional and for ceremonial purposes, for example, weddings.
Tupou and Sekonaia, may your life be a long, happy and fulfilling journey together. Love Alexa. x
